What happens when twelve teenagers from Werribee “gang” Kings of Werribee film themselves sexually abusing, urinating on and stripping a girl, then charge people $5 for the dvd and once caught get off scott free?

They post a rap video on the internet a few years later proving that the politically correct justice system we have in Australia simply does not work.

For those that came in late Jarred Magnabosco, Josh Radcliffe and Daniel Porto amongst others filmed themselves in an incident with a girl who had “mild development delay” (I think that’s just a polite term for she wasn’t the smartest cookie in the jar).

The DVD depicted the twelve teenagers “urinating on a girl, setting her hair on fire, forcing her to participate in sexual activity, and also throwing items of her clothing into the Werribee River”.

So how was justice served?

On March 7, 2007, eight youths were charged over the DVD and appeared in the Melbourne Children’s Court on April 27, 2007 on charges of assault, manufacturing child pornography and procuring sexual penetration by intimidation.

Eight of the youths pleaded guilty and most likely will avoid prison, instead being required to participate in a sexual offenders program.

On 05 November 2007, all eight of the boys involved (aged between 15 and 17 at the time of offending) were ordered to participate in a rehabilitation program for male adolescents about positive sexuality.

Why am I not surprised they didn’t learn anything. Does anyone really think the teenagers didn’t know any better and it was simply a matter of education? Or that a few months of carebear counselling was going to “fix” them?

The rap video released presumable sometime in the last few days contains rehabilitated lyrics such as;

the attack video was viewed more “than the 10 o’clock news

I hope it hurts to reminisce when you think about us Werribee kids, all things we did

cunning judges, saying they can all get f—ed

The teenager also sings that the gang doesn’t need to be tested “because we proved we’re worthy” and that his “fame will never end”.

I split lips and f— I hate nips

We’re beyond saving, It’s Werribee until I’m locked up. Why don’t you go and find out what we done

They didn’t show her nude, when you look, you look, on YouTube

Amazingly, despite this there are still elements in society who believe it is the system that failed them. Adolescent psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg claims:

The ringleaders behind the infamous DVD received the appropriate sentence, the system had failed the teen in question, but the chance of reoffending may have increased with a jail term.

The reality is if you send someone to jail at that age the likelihood that they are going to reoffend is huge.

The sexual offending program is massively more effective and on research and statistics the kids are much less likely to reoffend.

Well gee it really sounds like they learnt their lesson, you can really taste the remorse in their lyrics. Clearly it isn’t the fact that they are a bunch of deviant criminals but rather it’s the legal system that has failed the innocent precious ones.

I do agree the legal system failed them, they should have been given life sentences. When you show such brazen disregard for the law you give up your right to be a member of free society.

Apparently the music video is floating around the internet but I haven’t been able to track down a copy. The Herald Sun article is a bit cryptic but it does mention Youtube (although due to the content I doubt it’s on there) and stating that the video was “posted on a website under his nickname”.

if reports are accurate, Biccy Brendo is the author the rap video

The ringleader, Daniel Porto goes under the internet alias Dr. Porto (his current myspace profile, thanks Alan) so I started my search there but turned up nothing. I reread the article again and noticed it also mentions the song author “set the 17-year-old girl’s hair on fire beside the Werribee River”.

The boy who set her hair on fire is named on Encylopedia Dramatica as Brendon and seems to go under the internet name of Biccy Brendo (Brendo’s current Myspace profile – thanks Werribee Watch). I wasn’t able to find anything under those names or extensively searching obvious related terms either.

Update 14/04/09: Listen to the track below (warning NSFW explicit lyrics):

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Do you think they’ve been rehabilitated?

The teenagers aren’t under the age of 18 anymore, if they insist on posting garbage like this on the internet they need to realise that the internet is a public space and eventually it’s going to bite back.

Update 18/04/09:

The music producer of the song, ‘Jabba’ has answered some questions I asked in relation to his involvement in the song, you can see his answers here.
