Conroy continues to contradict himself
In speaking to the press today Stephen Conroy has continued to contradict himself over the proposed controversial filter.
Senator Conroy said the Government had never claimed the filter itself would stop child pornography.
Yet here Conroy is just days ago stating the “whole purpose” of the blacklist which the filter will be primarily relying on;
Conroy has also made misleading statements in the past on the purpose of the filter. Shortly after the Labor party was elected he declared “if people equate freedom of speech with watching child pornography, then the Rudd-Labor Government is going to disagree.”
By asserting that those opposed to the filter are against stopping child pornography Conroy is surely inferring that the filter will in some way stop child pornography.
Conroy also went on to state that “it (the filter) is not designed to deal with peer-to-peer‘. Once again Conroy pulls another contradiction, and I quote;
Technology that filters peer-to-peer and BitTorrent traffic does exist and it is anticipated that the effectiveness of this will be tested in the live pilot trial.
Whether or not peer to peer filtering is part of the current live pilot trials is unclear but the fact that the government at the very least considered it cannot be denied.
“If I stood up anywhere and said ‘hey, this filter will block peer-to-peer’ then rightfully I should be ridiculed.’
To be honest senator at this stage it’s much easier to just sit back and point out the gaping inaccuracies and contradictions in your rhetoric. You’re doing a bang up job of ridiculing yourself all on your own.

The government can already monitor who is going on kiddie porn sites, they have the power to trace the ISP addresses and make arrests but they don’t. Why? Because this filter has a different agenda. Censorship. Why was wiki leaks included in the government filter system? Don’t get me wrong I have been on some disgraceful sites eg Fred Phelps…godhatesfags.com and I am horrified at the hate being delivered. BUT I at least I am informed about what is going on, I don’t like it, but I am informed. And from that information I can make up my own mind and my own conclusions. Remove such sites, the porn, the hate, the ain’t social groups, they will still exist but it will move underground.
