Avoiding pregnancy in Taiwan just takes a bit of skill

Taiwan
Let me paint a picture for you. It’s late at night and you’re walking back from a bar with a hot girl on your arm.
As you get closer to her place you realize that you don’t have any condoms on you. You don’t know the Chinese word for condom and you don’t know this girl well enough to take that chance just yet.
So what do you do…?
Well, being in Taiwan you do what everybody else does. You try to win a condom by playing one of those claw skill games.
Sounds bulletproof to me!

I’m not exactly sure what happens if you lose though… maybe there’s a claw skill game full of pregnancy kits around here somewhere too.

Somehow ‘toy’ condoms probably made in China with a ‘special’ lead painted lubricant sends a jolt of anxiety through my nutsack OZ.
‘Claw skill’ condoms ay, I hope the ‘Claw’ didn’t pierce your night of joy. I can just see you in 12 years Oz explaining to little Oz……. ‘You see son you were helped into this Universe by a giant ‘UFO Claw’.

lol. Let’s just say I came well prepared with a stash of Australian certified condoms.
I still have a few left but am kind of wonderng what happens when they run out. Do I ebay some condoms in or risk little Oz’s… I don’t think I’m ready for little Oz’s yet.
I don’t think anyone is.

Was your usage of the condoms in association with local or expat girls? If local, did you have any difficulty with the chat up or does a few beers and a smile work for you?

The expat girls here have been a nightmare visually. There are so many expat tubby females running around the main cities of Taiwan it’s not funny.
I’ve definietly only got an interest in the locals.
The chat up can be problematic if their english isn’t that good. Currently I’m studying Chinese and doing language exchange a few times a week but I’m far from being able to have a conversation.
There’s also a lot of ugly guys here so if you’re half good looking it’s a pretty decent scene. Outside of the cities pickings are a bit slim though. Taipei has so many hot pants and long legs even in the middle of winter that it makes my head spin.
The girls I’ve been with bar one could speak english fluently. Co-incidentally I’ve spent the most time with the one who couldn’t speak much english, she was by far the cutest as she wasn’t trying to impress me with her supposed ‘westernism’.
I can’t wait to be abl to speak Mandarin properly!
I’ve been holding back writing about the girls of Taiwan, mostly because I don’t think I’ve been here long enough to post authoritively on it. I have developed some stereotypes to categorise some of the girls though.
I guess I’m waiting for a bigger picture to develop before I publish anything on it though. It’s a…. uh… work in progress.
