Don’t take anything for granted in Taiwan
A few weeks ago now I moved into a furnished apartment. It was nice not to have to worry about buying any furniture and I quite liked the location.
From my balcony I had a reasonable view of the town I was in and shortly after moving my suitcase in I began to make myself at home.
In the bathroom I found a bottle of shampoo which was a nice surprise. Shampoo was one thing I hadn’t bought yet so I grateful it was one less thing to worry about buying and carrying around.
After about a week of staying in the apartment I decided to do some quick cleaning. Carpeted floors doesn’t seem to be all that big in Taiwan so if you don’t keep on top of keeping the tiles clean they kinda get dirty pretty quickly.
Especially if you’re home for a few hours after having a shower and the bathroom floor is still wet.
Whilst doing a quick clean I picked up the shampoo bottle I’d been using and for the first time actually had a look at the label.

It was then that I noticed the hand holding a plate in the bottom left corner. I realised at that point that I’d been washing my hair all week with dishwashing soap.

No I think I got lucky and it was non-radioactive dishwashing liquid. Speaking of hair though I need a haircut soon.
There seems to be two options here:
1. oldschool barber who will give me a crew cut
2. Modern deco hair studio with hello kitty posters all over the wall and girls wearing short skirts who will turn me into a j-pop idol.
…I think I might put off this haircut as long as possible.

I know I’m late, but you could go for the easy to look after haircut and just shave it all off.

Around here you have these monk types that run around in robes with shaved heads.
…as stupid as it sounds, I think the risk of being identified as a crazy foreigner monk wannabe is too great.
