I’ve heard lots of stories about the vending machines in Japan. From (genuine?) school girl panties to hamburgers to all sort of crazy stuff on offer.

Whilst Taiwan doesn’t seem to have nearly the concentration of vending machines that Japan offers it does have its fair share of crazy offerings.

One particular machine I walked past recently appeared to not only sell creative nail designs, but apply them too!

From what I could work out you chose your nail design off the screen using the four way directional pad (presumably there was a preset selection on offer).

Then you applied a precoat using the nail art pen to the left of the love heart cutout.

Inside the heart cutout was a finger shaped pad so I presume this is where your finger went next. Whilst you placed complete faith in the mechanics of the machine your chosen nail design would then be applied to your fingernail.

The final step is to then apply the finish coat from the nail pen on the right of the love heart.

All this cost $20 TWD (approx 80c AUD) and I think it was priced per nail.

The heart shaped cutout was at about crotch level for me so I’m kind of wondering if this machine had other, perhaps more profitable applications over nail design.

I’m not quite sure how old the booth but unfortunately it wasn’t functional and had definitely seen better days. If it had of been running this would be the part where I’d be showing Youtube footage of my shiny new nail designs and how the machine worked.

I guess I’ll have to keep my eye out for a working one…
