ELECTROMAGNETIC ATTACK! Lin Ruey-shiung a nutjob?
Electromagnetic waves give off electromagnetic radiation which
is a form of energy that exhibits wave-like behavior as it travels through space and has both electric and magnetic fieldcomponents, which oscillate in phase perpendicular to each other and perpendicular to the direction of energy propagation.
Some waves, such as radio waves are relatively harmless… others not so much and can be quite damaging to your health.
Here in Taiwan, electromagnetic waves also serve at the forefront of political warfare.
Don’t like how an election is shaping up? Blast your opponents with electromagnetic waves!
Well, at least that’s what People First Party candidate Lin Ruey-shiung (林瑞雄) claims happened to him…

Lin Ruey-shiung (on the right there in a dramatic re-enactment of the attack), who just also happens to be a retired professor specialising in electromagnetic waves and brain tumors, is running as a Vice Presidential candidate of the People First Party in the upcoming January 2012 elections.
Two days ago, Lin came forward claiming that a ‘local intelligence unit’ belonging to the ‘National Security Bureau (NSB)’ had launched an electromagnetic wave attack on his house ‘on September 20th (which) lasted three days‘.
Naturally, with the KMT currently holding government in Taiwan, Lin’s claims can be boiled down to ‘the KMT party tried to fry my brain!’ This is evidenced in Lin’s remarking that he ‘did not expect newspapers under the Chinese Nationalist Party’s (KMT) clout to look into the case‘.
The implication here of course being that this is some giant KMT government-level conspiracy to make Lin lose his mind and ensure he stays away from politics.
Not surprisingly, the KMT also just happens to be the PFP’s main competition as the two parties essentially compete for the support of the same voter base.
Lin went on to explain that a victim of an electromagnetic wave can expect a ‘spirit of excitement’ that will cause them to ‘not fall asleep‘.
When asked if he, as a result of the alleged attack, had experienced this Lin replied,
I have not, I would have run away or already (have gone) crazy.
When asked to back up his claims of being eletromagnetically attacked, Lin responded with
I have no evidence. The evidence (is for) you to check.
Lin does however claim to have ‘a document (file)‘ which in some way presumably proves the attack ever took place. But of course, when asked to produce the document, Lin stated that he could only do so ‘after the election‘.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Drawing the only obvious conclusion that can be made by Lin’s behaviour, the media then asked Lin whether he suffered from a personality disorder.
Lin replied,
Not at all, you see, I have a split personality? I (have a) very good personality, do not feel I normal?
Personally, I’m not convinced.
Just to clarify, seventy-three year old Lin Ruey-shiung
- claims he was attacked by the current administration by electromagnetic waves
- has no physical proof of the attack
- claims he didn’t suffer the side effects he claimed victims of such an attack would experience
- claims to have document related to the attack, but for some mysterious reason can’t reveal it until after the election
- expects newspapers who don’t support the KMT to go to his house and somehow find evidence of the attack
- is confident he doesn’t suffer from a mental disorder and has a ‘good personality‘
Despite Lin’s reassurances that he’s ‘normal’, evidently a lifes work on electromagnetic waves and brain tumours has more than taken its toll.

Update 10th December, 2011 – WTF? Lin Ruey-shiung makes some totally ‘pull out of his arse’ claims and the next thing you know Taiwan’s ‘ Electromagnetic Radiation Hazard Protection and Control Association’ (double WTF??) are
urging presidential candidates to pay more attention to the issue of electromagnetic waves and pass laws to protect people from their harmful effects.
Guys, I’m pretty sure electromagnetic waves don’t care about your silly laws… it’s not like they’re going to stop mid-air because somebody made it illegal to be exposed to them.
Also really, do you honestly think anyone using electromagnetic waves in an attack gives a damn about the law?
Common sense people… common sense.

About that picture*… that’s pretty much what I looked like recently after reading a Taipei Times editorial or two. Electromagnetism is for pussies. Stupidity is a far more powerful force of nature.
*By the way, left is not right, just like inference is not implication and retaliation is not aggression. Try to remember this stuff.

In other words, Lin Rueyshiung can’t sleep with the lights on.

He read too much Wesley sci-fi novels. I think that’s the plot in one of those novels.

Two things for Mr. Lin to consider:
Tylenol and an aluminum foil hat.
(Maybe he should be making Chinese language commercials overseas for headache sufferers? hmmmm….)

I assume you saw that the National Security Bureau saw fit to deny responsibility.

I’ve been telling everyone in my office that I hope James Soong gets elected and then promptly dies of a heart attack so that Lin can become president. Then China would really have something to worry about.

Didn’t see that particular report but saw the Taipei Times one today.
I’m amazed they actually had to put out a statement denying it, but I do love their defense;
‘We didn’t officially apply to fry people’s brains so how on Earth could it be us?!‘
Love it!

In reality, he was visited by extra terrestrials for three days. During those three days, they had performed an anal probe on him.
After being probed, a couple of guys in black suits came in. Shots were fired, and the ET’s flew away in their getaway saucer. One of the MIB guys then pulled out what appeared to be a pen of some sort.
They then put on some shades as a bright light filled the room. The man with the pen then proceeded to tell Mr. Lin an alternate story for what had happened, blaming everything on the NSB. Just as the two men were about to leave, one of them advised Mr. Lin to sit on an ice pack for a couple of hours to relieve any soreness from “electromagnetic waves.”

I am more concerned about Professor Lin’s lack of political experience, or his ineptitude.
What would happen if the old Sung suddenly dies during his presidency (if elected)? Lin would be the person to take over the presidents job.
My question is can he do a good job?

Dunno about that, but tell ya what – I’d first in line down at the local 7-11 for some popcorn!

I am watching cti(Taiwan TV) the debate among three presidential candidates, and have been following the “Yu-Chang” scandal.
I feel that the law in Taiwan has NO teeth. This allows shameless politicians abusing their authority to profit themselves. Not only do they get away scotch free, they can also openly “defend” their felony and refuse to admit their crimes. In other countries these people will be in jail.

@Iamdawave
It’s a bit like that isn’t it. I mean we hear so many defamation cases being launched, but no actual noticable outcomes. It’s like once they are launched they just fizzle away.
And two days later the same person the initial defamation suit was filed against is out there making a whole bunch of new unsubstantiated claims…
And what’s worse this credibility is what these people run for office on, and win!
