David Carradine: Death by crazy ninjas or sex gone wrong?
Thailand’s tourism industry is to be commended for their work in getting Thailand into the headlines these past few weeks. Student riots, Transsexual beauty pageants, arresting tourists and now celebrity deaths.
Credit given where credit is due, the tourism board of Thailand have certainly got their money’s worth this year.
Like a car crash it’s always hard to not want to know what happened when a celebrity is found dead under suspicious circumstances. This curiosity is then multiplied by a number so large it wouldn’t fit into this post when the circumstances involve the words ‘found naked’, rope and genitals.
What really piqued my interest about David Carradine’s death wasn’t the initial founding but rather the events following the discovery of his body hanging in a closet.
Firstly family and friends came out denying that Carradine was suicidal and asking for the FBI to get involved. Now denying he is suicidal is understandable, nobody likes to think somebody in their family is suicidal because of that feeling of ‘had I of known I might have done something’.
But asking the FBI to get involved? What are they going to do? Head on over to Thailand, wave their magic FBI sticks around and solve the ‘case’?
Anyway that was Saturday, fast forward to Sunday and news broke of Thai newspaper ‘Thai Rath’. Below is the image sourced from Provocativ and also appearing on Thai Rath Carradine. Whether these are legit or not I can’t say but presumably they have been scanned from the Thai newspaper.

Thai Rath frontpage, below is an enhanced image

If the photo is legit that seems like an awfully long length to go to just to get your rocks off. I’m not educated on the intracities of autoerotic asphyxiation but surely doing all that on your own isn’t an easy thing to pull off.
How the Thai newspaper got their hands on a forensic photograph I have no idea, maybe sending the FBI in isn’t such a bad idea.
So we have the ‘wasn’t suicide’ calls from family and friends and then the alleged photograph showing how the body was found. This couldn’t get any more weirder could it?
Sunday night Mark Geragos appeared on Larry King and made comments suggesting that Carradine’s death might have had something to do with martial arts.
He made the claim on Larry King Live after a panel member noted Carradine was keen on following and disclosing secret societies.
“What that means is connected to martial arts and his interest in martial arts,” Mr Geragos said.
“And so there is a suspicion that if there was some foul play, that that may be the first area where they should look.”
Riiiiighhh….t.
So let’s have a look at the three possibilities currently on the table:
1. Autoerotic Asphyxiation
I’m not saying it’s impossible but I’d love to know how you tie yourself up and then proceed to get off with this setup. It’s a lot of trouble to go to but I’d say seems to be the most probable at this stage.
2. Suicide
I disagree it was suicide not because of friends’ and family claims that he wasn’t suicidal but just because it seems like such an extraordinary length to go to just to kill yourself. I can believe someone going to such elaborate lengths to ‘relieve some stress’ but suicide? Not likely.
3. Secret ninja martial arts cult execution
Yeah ok there’s ‘deflecting attention from the obvious’ and then there’s ‘making wild accusations that nobody is going to believe’. Cmon really? Some martial arts cult murdered him while he was filming Stretch and tied him up?
Come on guys we’re not morons. Marina Anderson who divorced Carradine back in 2003 stated Carradine’s sexual behaviour was one of the reasons their marriage broke down.
Actress Marina Anderson, 56, said Carradine, who was found dead in his Bangkok hotel room, routinely displayed “deviant sexual behaviour which was potentially deadly”.
In papers from their 2003 divorce posted on an American website, Ms Anderson, says her refusal to engage in the games caused their marriage to break down.
While we’re still waiting on official reports and tests to be carried out, here’s the official Thai police line (It’s a youtube clip but embedding is disabled).
Noteably there is no mention of genitals or string tied around them.
So, what do you think happened?

I did some research on AEA (Autoerotic Asphyxiation) yesterday before you post this article and this is what I found:
“autoerotic asphyxiation (AEA)- strangling or suffocating themselves to heighten sexual arousal and orgasm. When the brain is lack of oxygen (asphyxia), one would experience a high – euphoria, dizziness, and lowered inhibition – before lose of consciousness. To make the sexual experience more thrilling, autoerotic asphyxiators masturbate while strangling themselves with cords, ropes, scarves, and ties, or they suffocate by sealing their heads in plastic bags. The vast majority don’t mean to kill themselves. They usually devise some kind of rescue mechanism to stop the asphyxiation once they’ve climaxed. But the fail-safe often fails. For example, they may tie a slip-knot or hang themselves from something that’s shorter than they are, so they can simply stand up to stop the strangulation. But they may get so weak and disoriented from lack of oxygen that they can’t pull out the knot or stand up, and they pass out and die.”
The whole practice sounds fairly horrific… I don’t know how people can go through all those pain and risk being dead just to have an extreme sexual experience or orgasm. Apparently the practice was “inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock movie Frenzy, which has scenes of women being strangled, and Westerns on TV in which outlaws are hanged.”
It was also reported that “autoerotic asphyxiation is one of the few sexual practices that remain hush-hush, mainly because forensic scientists and psychologists won’t talk about it outside their professional circles. They’re afraid of giving kids ideas.” As a matter of fact, as a mental health profession, I do think it’s about time to educate children, adolescents, even adults the correct mindset toward sex. Sex should be enjoyable, not painful or even death.
Surely there are as many sexual turn-ons as there are things in the world, and no one can keep you from feeling the way you do. If asphyxiation is your thing, however, it’s best left to fantasy. Because AEA is a high price to pay for pleasure and you might not be able to afford it at the end of the day.

I don’t think AEA is about turn ons or whatnot, from what I understand it’s about enhancing an orgasm.
Not that I’m advocating AEA but I wouldn’t expect a female to understand it, male and female masturbation is vastly different.
I can’t imagine it’d be fun standing around with a rope around your neck waiting four hours for an orgasm to appear
.

Not trying to say that I’m an expert on AEA but thought it’s helpful to provide some information for other readers…
P.S. You won’t have to wait four hours for an orgasm, the ‘ultimate orgasm’ happens at the second that you suffocate from lack of oxygen (and it shouldn’t take long)…

The whole thing just blows my mind.
I’m going to have to say that I agree, it’s not likely a suicide thing – way to much effort. As humorous as the Secret ninja martial arts cult execution may be, I’m going to say this isn’t the case either.
Maybe he had a heart attack while trying to get his rocks off, maybe it got out of control (he thought he had the situation under control) or maybe someone else was in the room and any combo happened.
I just have a hard time thinking he was alone.

I have a feeling that he was in the room alone while trying to practice AEA, but due to his age (or otherwise), things got out of control, he might have suffocated for too long and lost consciousness…
Over the weekend I have chatted to my colleague who’s a sexual psychologist, apparently there really were / are people practing this mind blowing ritual… I just don’t think it’s worth it…

Oh I don’t think it’s just their minds they’re blowing!
(sorry I couldn’t resist).

Oh oz – don’t be dirty!

I just can’t get my mind around it, I guess. I agree, it’s not worth it. I’ll take a normal, everyday, orgasm any day over that.
Call me old fashioned…

You are not old fashioned, you are ‘normal’ (in a good way!)
