Learning that season 9 of Scrubs was going to go ahead was disappointing enough.

Then came my introduction to the new characters and the realisation that JD was leaving and the utter annoyingness that is this idiot Cole character.

…things weren’t looking good but I began to see some season story arcs developing and remained tuned in. I loved the original and figured I owed this new mish mash at least a season of viewing to give it a fair go.

Episode 6 of Scrubs season 9 aired yesterday which saw the return of Elliot Reid, played by Sarah Chalke.

Either the last year was an absolute nightmare for Chalke, she has gone down the destructive road of collagen injections. Of course I’m not a plastic surgeon so I’m only guessing at how and why she’s gone for the puffy marshmallow man look.

This is the Sarah Chalke I’m used to seeing:

This is what punched me in the groin about a quarter through episode six:

Note the extreme puffiness around the eyes and the mouth region, along with the telltale droopiness. Also I have no idea what’s going on with Chalke’s forehead in the shot on the right.

Unfortunately it seems Chalke has gone down the same route as her co-star Christa Miller (who plays Cox’s wife, Jordan). She went from being a super hot milf to puffy face nightmare earlier on in the series and kind of ruined the whole Jordan character for me.

Obviously it’s their body and they’re free to do whatever they want but I’m always confused as to why a woman would willingly want to go for a puffy face look.

Now not only do I have to put up with new Scrubs characters I may or may not like ruining what was once a great show for me, but Chalke has also gone and ruined Elliot Reid for me too.

Seriously, what the hell gives?
